Isaiah Blanco-Hontivers back to lead UC Junior Webmasters

Isaiah Blanco-Hontiveros, the son of the Cebuano basketball legend Dondon Hontiveros, will be playing for the University of Cebu Junior Webmasters as the team tries to defend their Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. title next season, according to a report.

Blanco-Hontiveros had a change of heart after announcing in March that he will be joining the Far Eastern University program. He did train with FEU, but decided it would be better to rejoin the team that he helped win a championship last year.

“FEU is a great school, they have a great coaching staff. I love my teammates there, but I would like to build myself first as a leader, a team player, and especially, I would want to make a name for myself first,” Cebu Daily News quoted Blanco-Hontiveros as saying.

With the Junior Junior Webmasters’ core graduating, however, Blanco-Hontiveros will be asked to play a bigger leadership role for the younger members of the squad.

“I’m ready to lead this young team with the experience I gained last season and this past summer in Manila,” Blanco-Hontiveros said.

Blanco-Hontiveros hit the game-clinching, and championship-clinching, three-pointer in Game 2 of the Junio Webmasters’ Finals series against the Southwestern University in September 2018.
