Russell Westbrook set to join James Harden in Houston

Former National Basketball Association Most Valuable Player Russell Westbrook is set to join another former MVP in James Harden in Houston via trade, according to reports.
The Oklahoma City Thunder shipped Westbrook in exchange for Chris Paul and first-round picks in the 2024 and 2026 NBA Rookie Draft, along with pick swaps in 2021 and 2025.
The deal was completed with Westbrook’s blessing, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
With the deal, Westbrook and Harden will be reuniting, hoping to finish the job that was left undone as they fell against LeBron James, Dwayne Wade, Chris Bosh, and the rest of the Miami Heat in the 2012 NBA Finals. Kevin Durant, himself an MVP plum winner, was also part of that Oklahoma team.
The deal came just one day after the Thunder officially shipped All-Star Paul George to the Los Angeles Clippers.
Westbrook and the Thunder lost to the Portland Trailblazers in the first round of the 2019 Western Conference playoffs. Harden, Paul, and the Rockers, meanwhile, bowed to the Golden State Warriors in the second round.
