Quezon City denies the visiting Mindoro Tamaraws

The Quezon City Capitals successfully defended their home floor against the visiting Mindoro Tamaraws, 72-62, to wrap up the Thursday triple-header in the MPBL Lakan Cup at the Blue Eagle Gym.
Tonino Gonzaga and Clark Derigue bombed away back-to-back triples in the three minute mark of the fourth quarter to space a 13-point lead for the Capitals, 70-57, before controlling the waning minutes to the delight of the crowd.
Derigue led the Capitals with 16 points and Tonino Gonzaga added 11 points with 14 rebounds.
Rodel Vaygan, on the other hand, had 12 points and Sandy Ceñal came up with 11 points and 14 rebounds for the Tamaraws.
The home team was in the lead almost the entire game but the Tamaraws gripped well to keep the deficit in single digit in three quarters, 17-14, 32-25, and 48-45 before QC pulled away late.
With the win Quezon City is now at 3-2 win-loss card while Mindoro went down to 1-3.
Quezon City will take on the Makati Super Crunch on July 15 while Mindoro will clash with the Nueva Ecija MiGuard, July 17 at Bataan People's Center.
