Lim on Perpetual's win over Mapua: 'It's a show of character para sa team ko'

University of Perpetual head coach Frankie Lim said that the Altas' 80-78 win over the Mapua University Cardinals showed the character that his team has this NCAA season 95.
Trailing for the most part of the contest on Tuesday at the San Juan Arena, Perpetual turn things around in the third quarter as it outscored Mapua, 25-18. The Las Piñas-based squad then leaned on the heroics of Edgar Charcos in the fourth to open its first Prince Eze-less season with a win.
"It's a show of character para sa team ko," Lim said.
"I felt that Mapua is really stronger than our team. In fact sa preseason, tinambakan kami niyan ng 38 points. Kinakabahan rin ako going into the game, iniisip ko na baka nasa isip pa nila yung larong yun."
But that was the preseason.
Lim's new recruit in Ben Adamos joined hands with his holdovers from last season in Jielo Razon, Tonton Peralta and Charcos to change the narrative this time around.
The 6-foot-6 Adamos chipped in eight points, 10 rebounds and two blocks. Razon turned in 10 points, four assits and two boards. Tonton Peralta unloaded 20 points, two caroms and two dimes while Charcos punched in 16 markers, including 11 in the fourth quarter to carry the Altas to the victory.
"But it's guts. At halftime, we were down by eight points I think. Yung complete turnaround yung third quarter. Sa fourth quarter we led by about eight points. Big game also from Adamos, kay Jielo, Tonton Peralta and of course Charcos the leader of this team."
