Joe Lacobs: Warriors look forward to retire Iguodala’s jersey no. 9

After barring the Golden State Warriors’ plan to retire Kevin Durant’s jersey no. 35 weeks ago, team’s Co-Chairman and CEO Joe Lacobs said that the Warriors are also retiring Andre Iguodala’s jersey no. 9.
“We thank Andre for all of his contributions and look forward to seeing his number in the rafters at Chase Center,” Lacob said in a statement Monday (Philippine time).
On July 1, Golden State traded Iguodala alongside a protected first round pick to the Memphis Grizzlies in exchange for forward Julian Washburn - a move it did to accommodate the salary of D’Angelo Russell whom it signed to a four-year $117 million contract via a sign-and-trade deal with the Brooklyn Nets.
Brooklyn has acquired Durant in the transaction, and signed the two-time Finals MVP to a four-year $164 million deal.
The deal between the two teams was completed on Monday, July 8.
The Warriors acquired Iguodala from the free agency in 2013. In six years with Golden State, Iguodala proved to be a key cog for the Dubs especially in their five straight Finals appearances (2015-2019). The 6-foot-6 forward averaged 7.3 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.4 assists in 413 games with Golden State.
Iguodala’s stint with the Warriors was highlighted with a 2015 Finals MVP award, when Golden State beat the Cleveland Cavaliers in six games in the Big Dance.
