With droves of people attending the Toronto Raptors' championship parade, violence found its way into the event resulting to four people being shot and three others arrested on Tuesday morning (Philippine time) in Canada, according to a report.
Fans ran from the shooting, causing a stampede of tens of thousands of people from the City Hall Square. Earlier, an estimated 1.5 million fans packed downtown Toronto, and the development raised concerns about safety and overcrowding.
The report noted that Toronto Police Chief Mark Saunders said that there were no life-threatening wounds from the shots. Others also suffered minor injuries as they tried to run from the shooting.
The police arrested three people with firearms, but they are still asking witnesses and people who might have a video recording of the incident to help with the investigators. The motive behind the shooting remains to be unclear.
