Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League commissioner Kenneth Duremdes has signed a contract with the EJMC events organizer to hold an MPBL game in Dubai, the commissioner told Courtside Philippines in a phone interview on Monday.

To the league’s officials’ surprise, however, the organizer is requesting two games to be played in the Arab country.

“It’s already signed, the contract. We went to Dubai to sign an agreement with the EJMC events organizer. It’s on September 27,” Duremdes said.

“And to our surprise—ang initial na gusto nila is only September 27. And then nung nandun na kami, parang na-excite sila dahil siguro sa demand ng mga kababayan natin sa Dubai, nag-request sila ng two games, Septermber 27 and 28,” Duremdes explained.

Duremdes also said that they are waiting for the final approval of MPBL founder Senator Manny Pacquiao regarding the September 28 game.

The teams that will be playing in the said game or games, however, is yet to be finalized. The organizers are selecting from Rajah Cup champions Batangas City Athletics, Datu Cup champions San Juan Knights, Datu Cup runners-up Davao Occidental Tigers, and the Jayjay Helterbrand-Gerald Anderson-powered Imus Bandera.
