CJ Isit feels pressure to win another MPBL crown

CJ Isit is coming back for the San Juan Knights in the third season of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League, and he is feeling the pressure of winning another crown with the Datu Cup champions.
In an interview with Courtside Philippines’ AC Ong, Isit said that, though there is pressure defending the crown, he is willing to embrace it.
“I guess being retained [in the team’s lineup] for a title defense adds the pressure of successfully doing so in producing wins and, of course, the championship. But with all the challenges, you just got to embrace it and enjoy it, so that’s what I’m going to do,” Isit said.
Isit said that, after their journey last season, which was capped by the championship, the team has truly grown and matured. That surely will help them weather any adversity.
“We have definitely built a solid foundation both on and off the court where we feel we can weather any adversity that may come this season,” said Isit.
Isit also said that, though the Knights have lost some players and added new ones, they will still have a killer’s instinct.
“In the words of Kobe Bryant, different animal, same beast,” he said.
Isit played a total of 32 games for the Knights in the Datu Cup with averages of 4.78 points, 3.09 rebounds, 2.41 assists, 1.16 steals, and 17.62 minutes per outing.
