Go for Gold-CSB's playoffs spot-clinching win (109-91) at the expense of McDavid in the D-League on Tuesday afternoon was sort of marred by the injury that Yankee Haruna suffered.
The Scratchers’ winger fell down to the floor of the JCSGO Gym after getting kneed by Janus Lozada in his right jaw at the 7:13 mark of the second quarter when Go for Gold-CSB was ahead, 46-28.
Haruna, who finished the game with seven points and four rebounds, faked a three-pointer in the left corner that had Lozada jumping and kneeing the latter with his right knee.
Lozada said he meant no harm and such incident was unintentional at all.
“Hindi ko naman sinasadya. Hindi ko naman talaga intensyon yun eh. Ang alam ko kasi patira na siya, eh bigla siyang drumayb.”
“Nag-sorry naman ako sa kanya, sabi niya okay lang.”
It took sometime for the debilitated Haruna to get back up. His condition was really bad that he didn't return to action after the incident, and was brought to a hospital.
“Takot kami na baka broken jaw. Non-stop bleeding eh, until halftime hilong-hilo siya he was spitting a lot of blood. It was very bad,” Go for Gold-CSB head coach Charles Tiu said.
“Yankee was one of the toughest guys. Pero ito he was put into bad shape so hopefully nothing serious."
