Janus Lozada is going to play a major role in the Rizal Crusaders offense in the third season of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League, but the ex-Mandaluyong El Tigre insists that he is not going to be the team’s main man.
No less than Ralph Rivera, the Crusaders’ new head coach, told Lozada that the 6’ 2” swingman is going to be the team’s main source of offense, but it was Lozada himself who was quick to turn down the notion.
“Actually yun yung sinasabi sakin sakin ng bago naming coach (Rivera), pero hindi ko sinasabi sa kanya na ako yung magiging main man. Kasi madami kami, since bago din ako sa team, puro bago din yung mga players,” Lozada said in a phone interview with Courtside Philippines.
Lozada admitted that he will play a big role for the team, but so will new recruit Achie Iñigo and the returning Jerome Juanico.
“Yun yung mga inaasahan di ni coach na makakatulog sa kanya,” the new Crusader said.
Lozada also said that he will not be changing his approach to the game as Rivera, according to Lozada, likes the way he plays.
The Adamson University Falcon played a total of 25 games for the El Tigre in the Datu Cup and averaged 6.36 points, 3.48 rebounds, 1.84 assists, 1.2 steals, and 20.8 minutes per outing.
