San Sebastian College-Recoletos Stags head coach Egay Macaraya thinks that his star player RK Ilagan is ready to play in the Philippine Basketball Association.
Macaraya, on Friday, said that Ilagan has "matured" and has become more than just a scorer, giving him the skills necessary to become a pro.
"I'm very happy na nagma-mature nang mabilis si RK. [Papasok siya sa ] fourth year pa lang ngayon so he has two years more, and I know that he's ready for the big league," Macaraya said.
The Stags' head tactician also said that Ilagan has developed the leadership skills that the team sorely needs.
"The good thing about RK right now is that he's not just a scorer but a leader also. Yun yung importante sa team. Yun yung kailangan namin sa team [since] Micahel Calisaan left for the PBA," the coach said.
"So ang nangyayari ngayon, RK is our captain ball and he's doing his job as a scorer and as a leader," Macaraya added.
For his part, Ilagan is looking to lead his team to victories the right way.
"Ngayon fourth year ko na po sa NCAA and sa FilOil po pang-apat ko na din po, parang ako na po nag-li-lead sa kanila, sa mga rookie po. Kailangan ko lang po talaga silang i-lead sa panalo sa tamang paraan," he said.
