Ironcon-UST and St. Clare College-Virtual Reality are out to improve their playoffs chances when they battle on Thursday in the 2019 PBA D-League at the Ynares Sports Arena.
Game is set at 4:00 p.m.
The Growling Tigers (5-2) have struggled as of late as they lost two of their last three games including a 92-80 defeat to the Che’Lu Bar and Grill Revellers last May 6.
UST head coach Aldin Ayo recognizes the fact that his youthful squad needs the struggle that they are in right now to grow.
"Yun naman ang inaayos natin, yung sistema. Bata pa rin ang team kaya kailangan namin maranasan yung mga ganitong hardships," he said.
Rhenz Abando, Mark Nonoy, and Beninese Soulemane Chabi Yo look to join hands once more to carry the Growling Tigers to a win that would certainly boost their playoffs bid.
Meanwhile, the Saints are just as desperate to make it to the crossover quarterfinals.
They are also holding a 5-2 win-loss card and a win over UST could propel them to the playoffs.
St.Clare is coming off its 93-82 win over McDavid last May 2.
The Saints head coach Jinino Manansala said that his team is just out to give its best against a solid Growling Tigers squad.
"Tuloy lang namin ang trabaho namin. Ready kami laban sa UST. Hindi kami pwedeng magpabaya at ibigay lang namin ang best namin," he shared.
Junjie Hallare looks to lead St. Clare to a win once more while Mohamed Pare, Joshua Fontanilla, and Darwin Lunor are also expected to be at the forefront of the Saints’ attack.
