Alex Cabagnot lived up to his ‘Crunch Man’ billing on Wednesday as he stepped up bigtime in the fourth quarter to get the San Miguel Beer over the hump that is the Magnolia Hotshots in Game 7 of their PBA Philippine Cup Finals series.
Cabagnot dropped nine of his 18 total points in the fourth quarter, including a fadeaway jumper that gave the Beermen the lead after being down by as many as 17 points in the third quarter. He also added three rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
“It was extremely difficult. You know, we went back and forth pero Magnolia put up a great fight. I can’t put it into words right now but I’m so glad we won,” Cabagnot said.
Asked what got into the Beermen in the third quarter, Cabagnot replied: “ I guess our camaraderie.”
He also paid tribute to all his teammates.
“I’m not gonna take away anything from all my teammates who’s been here, pero we just collectively wanted this as a group,” Cabagnot said.
“I am very blessed to be part of that group and to be under the coaching staff of the San Miguel organization,” he added.
