Chalk up another feat for the living legend June Mar Fajardo.

The now seven-time Philippine Basketball Association champion added another piece to his trophy case as he bagged his third Finals MVP award after leading the San Miguel Beermen to their fifth-straight Philippine Cup crown on Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The 6’ 10” Fajardo averaged 22.9 points, 19.1 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks through seven games in the series. On Wednesday, the five-time PBA regular season MVP and six-time Best Player of the Conference awardee tallied 17 points on 7-of-13 shooting along with a league-best 31 rebounds. He also had two steals and two huge blocks down the stretch.

Fajardo’s stellar game was marred only by his nine turnovers. That didn’t matter though as his team won the game in the end.

“Di ko ‘to makukuha kung hindi dahil sa teammates ko, sa management, sa tiwala nila sa amin, sa coaching staff namin, siyempre sa mga fans,” Fajardo said after receiving the award.
