PBA champion and Far Eastern University legend Denok Mirada said that he is focusing on his assistant coaching chores with the Tamaraws for the moment, but he’s not closing his doors on the possibility of playing one more season in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League.
Currently one of the assistants of head coach Olsen Racela, Miranda made known his priorities in a short chat with Courtside Philippines before the Tamaraws' game against National University Bulldogs on Tuesday in the 2019 FilOil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup.
“Focus muna ako dito [sa FEU],” Miranda said.
Asked if he has secured a team for the next MPBL season, Miranda replied: “Wala pa. May mga tumatawag pero wala pa [talagang final].
Miranda also said that he is leaning more and more towards coaching, with playing taking a backseat. Given a chance, however, he is willing to put in the work to be in top playing shape again.
“Madali lang naman magpa-kondisyon, mga two o three months. Mahaba naman ang season” he said.
Miranda was one of the leaders of the Laguna Heroes in the Datu Cup, where the team fell just one win short of making it to the playoff round in the South Division.
There, the 36-year-old Miranda played a total of 22 games and averaged 12.83 points, 3.45 rebounds, 4.32 assists, 0.73 steals, and 28.44 minutes per game.
