After suffering an ACL injury last season, CJ Cansino is set to start practicing with the UST Growling Tigers next month.
UST head coach Aldin Ayo bared the news to reporters moments after his team lost to the CEU Scorpions last Sunday in the Filoil Flying V Preseason Cup.
"Next month he's going to practice regularly na. He has about three months to practice with the team," Ayo said.
Cansino suffered an ACL tear in his left knee in the Growling Tigers' game against the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons last November 10 in the UAAP season 81.
The 6-foot-1 winger finished his rookie season with an average of 12.8 points, 10.3 rebounds, and 3.6 assists. Cansino was then named in the First All-Rookie Team.
"Hindi na namin siya (Cansino) ni-line up dito sa Filoil. We don't want to rush things up, we want to be patient. Gusto namin sigurado na pagbalik niya, healthy siya," Ayo added.
UST holds a 0-2 win-loss card in the Filoil Cup.
